Why Is The Night Sky Dark If There Are Billion Of Stars?

Why Is The Night Sky Dark If There Are Billion Of Stars?

Why is the night sky black if the universe contains trillions of stars and galaxies?
At first, the question sounds simple. But the answer led scientists through one of the biggest mysteries in astronomy: Olbers’ Paradox.
Walk into a dense forest and look in any direction. Trees in every direction. The forest fills your entire field of view.
Now apply the same logic to the universe.
There are an estimated two trillion galaxies in the observable universe. Each galaxy contains hundreds of billions of stars. Every direction you look, if you go far enough, you eventually hit a star. In a truly infinite universe packed with stars, the entire sky should blaze with light. Every point on the night sky should eventually be occupied by the surface of a star.
The night sky should be as bright as the surface of the Sun.
